ABC Stage 3

ABC Direct and Indirect Approaches

Having understood the correct layout of written communications, we now come back to the key concept of positioning. In this lesson, I shall explain when and how to use the two major writing strategies: Direct and Indirect. These strategies apply to positioning words in sentences, sentences in paragraphs, and paragraphs in a message.

ABC Levels of Formality

Email replaces not only letters and memos, but also phone calls and even face-to-face meetings. Manipulating the level of formality helps you build and maintain successful working relationships. How many Levels of Formality are there, and when should we use them? How do we decide the right writing style?

ABC Organisational Communication

Having understood the basis of interpersonal communication, we now examine communication in organisations. We examine communication flows, cultures, and climates. I will ask you to analyse a number of communications, rather like a management consultant.

ABC Review and Consolidation

A lot has happened since you started this course. In this review, we shall bring together the major learning points so far. Our objective is both to check your mastery of new strategies, and consolidate your learning before moving to the last Stage.
